My name is Lawrence. Not officially but it’s a name I have used for a lot of my creative writing.
I live in central Canada with my wife, 3 teenage girls, 1 110lb mutt, 3 cats, 1 gecko, and 2 minus 1 2 hamsters.
I was at Indigo with my girls the other day when I saw a book on blogging. I have had many blogs over the years including a few currently on the go, but I suddenly felt 50 knocking on my door and literally woke up in the middle of the night having dreamt of starting a blog called What the Fvck. It’s how I was feeling in the moment and I will get into current circumstances leading to this title at some point.
At the exact same time that I was getting this site started, I had also read that Julie Powell (author of the 2002-2003 blog The Julie/Julia Project), had passed suddenly – at age 49. Hence the byline – tomorrow isn’t promised.
I have been writing since grade 7 and although I have self-published a few short stories and have been published in the local newspaper many times, I’ve long felt a desire to do more with my craft.
I’m tired of dreaming.
Writing has been a passion since penning my first book at age 12 – a hockey soap opera that spanned 100 double-sided foolscap pages. It still occupies my filing cabinet.
Buying my first gently pounded boat and a 365 day writing challenge. Hello midlife. Meet crisis.
So here I am – grabbing a fvcking spork.
