With none of our girls needing to write any exams and no snow days delaying this end of term right of passage, today was a day off for them.
Abby is out of town for the weekend with a friend, so she wanted to go to her moms overnight to add a few things to her travel bag, and to spend some time with her mom since she’ll be away all weekend.
In the evening, Tara was working late and Hayleigh was at a friends, so Emma and I went out for a bit to eat. It was also my last supper before tomorrow’s prep for another turning 50 appointment; a colonoscopy.
The doctor and the nurse during my consult, both said I could just do a poop test because I didn’t have any symtom’s, but there is a history of both colon cancer and colon polyps in our family, so why not go with the test that is more accurate, and is that good for ten years?
After Emma and I returned from dinner, I took the dogs out for a 45 minute walk each. Seeing as though I would need to be close to a toilet all day tomorrow, I wanted to do my best to tire them out so they weren’t climbing the walls throughout the day.
I have my alarm set for 5:00 AM to give me time to have a big breakfast before my 6 AM cutoff from the wonderful world of solid foods. It’ll be Jello, chicken broth, lot’s of water, and 4 litres of thick clear yuck.
I’ve done this before. I had a Berium Enema in my twenties when I was suffering from anxiety issues. The prep was the same, but you are awake for that procedure. Nothing like the fear of emptying what’s left in your bowels on the table as they prod around with your arse sticking up in the air.
Wish me luck. At least I get a power nap for this procedure.
