I spent the early playing blog catch-up some more, and later Abby and I were finally able to complete her bed set up.
I had thought the wood slats that act as a boxspring had broken when they fell off the kitchen chairs, but it turns out there were just two pieces so that was a relief. I was just going to find some sort of felt I could use as strapping, but it’s always nice when a barrier to completing a task is removed.
We got Abby’s mattress placed on top and made her bed, so now she just has to go through the boxes and bins she used to put all the stuff I removed from her dresser and other things she had no place to store, and do her tidying magic.
Other than wanting to touch up the paint on her window wall where I was only able to go half way because of the boxes, and wanting to throw together a ladder in her closet so she can reach the upper shelves, her room is otherwise refreshed and I’m ready for the next challenge.
My goal this weekend is to draw up some plans once and for all because once I have measured and made a plan, I know the rest of her daybed build will go smoothly. There will be no greater home improvement satisfaction, then when I complete Emma’s room way too many months late.
After Emma’s room is complete, I will pause, sit down, and make a plan for the rest of this house. I am not sure we will live here forever, but the long-time desire has always been to one day leave, seeing it for what I always knew it could be.
I have a dream. Now I just need the time – and the money. Any sponsors?
