Abby wanted to go to her friends first thing in the afternoon. I dropped her and Quinn off (she was with us one more night), at her mom’s first so she could spend some time with her cat for a bit before her night of partying.
When I returned home, I dug back into her room for a little bit. I removed her shelf from the wall, and proceeded to do some touch-ups on that wall. In the meantime, I went to get some trim for her door. I had enough but when I tried to cut the two side pieces, I hadn’t done a good job measuring. It wasn’t a waste as I could use those pieces for the top of the inside and outside of her door.
With the shelf in the middle of the room, I guess I left Abby’s door open and the cats were fiddling about, knocking the shelving unit into the wall making a small gouge, and snapping the one shelf off and causing some damage. So, I just used puddy to fix the break in the shelf. It required two coats, and then I will continue to make use of the paint and clearcoat I had bought for the kitchen cabinet I repaired. This minor setback meant the addition to the wall repair was now going to need two more coats before I could sand and start painting this wall.
While I’m in there, I also fixed the fake vine Abby ran around her room as well as the LED lights which had started to peel off, and dusted her ceiling and the hanging lights that dangle along her accent wall that Tara and I painted a few years back for her. It’s sort of an ocean scene, with the colors mixing from blues, purples, yellows, oranges and reds up the wall. I’ll take a picture when the room is done to show what it looks like.
I believe I also mentioned that I was going to fix her phone outlet that was lying on the ground with the wires sticking out while I was here. Not that she will use it, but with the bed moving, you will see it so I picked up a new wall plate. I had bought a new set of wire cutters because I couldn’t find mine, but thankfully I found them before I opened the new ones and I was able to return this pair because they were expensive. I usually just buy Canadian Tire branded tools because they are decent and much cheaper, but they didn’t have any of this type of wire cutters that work with wires as tiny as twisted pair. I plugged the home phone into this outlet, and the fix worked perfectly. I also stapled the wires to the baseboards too so it looks nice and neat.
It’s all coming together.
Emma wanted to spend some time with our nieces before she went to her mom’s because she missed them on Christmas. They hung out for about an hour, and then I drove Emma home.
While everyone else watched 80’s videos downstairs, Izzabelle wanted to play Nintendo Cube so she kicked my but at Smashbrother’s for about an hour before we re-joined the party.
Catherine joined us too so it was a fun night with yummy snacks, nostalgic videos, and somehow I lasted until 1 PM before Lauren drove us home.
We did watch the ball drop, and caught a few minutes of Paul Anka, before returning back to our video watch party. I don’t know. It’s just not the same without Dick Clark.
