Although I haven’t put that list of home repair jobs together in light of my goal to declutter and get some long overdue jobs done around the house, I continue to plug away in the meantime.
When we had our roof done last year, all the banging caused Abby’s light fixture to come free from the ceiling, breaking the base in the process, and the wall I had built to turn our center pass-through bedroom into a bedroom and hallway setup, separated the ceiling from the wall on both sides.
The other week, I put a new light in for Abby and repaired the ceiling around it, and now I wanted to tackle the ceiling/wall joint. I had also picked Abby up a new Ikea bed frame off of Marketplace and over the past couple of weeks, have been touching up scuffs and such as I gathered the energy to tackle her bedroom touch-ups.
I started by taking her bed apart, tossing the box spring because it wouldn’t be needed anymore (it was old anyway), and putting the headboard on the wall to see how it would fit. Unfortunately, it went past the door frame so this meant her room would need a complete re-arranging which Abby wasn’t onboard with. She doesn’t like change. I don’t always listen though because kids need to learn that change can be a good thing too. This was suddenly becoming a big job.
So today, I started on the door-side of the room, where her bookshelf was going to have to move to. I patched holes, removed her poster, and found some flexible sealant to fix the gap between her wall and the ceiling.
For awhile, we will just have to keep putting her bed on the floor each night as I plug away.
Remembering how hard it was to color match Emma’s gray walls when I had to do touch-ups, let’s see how fun it is to match this pink.
