The Antique Mall

It wasn’t the nicest of days outside with the rain making it feel more like Vancouver than Ontario, but our plans were to spend the days indoors anyway so it really didn’t matter. By indoors, I meant shopping and what a long adventure that turned into.

We have many Christmas traditions as a blended family, and one of them is to go to the Antique Mall on Ottawa Street – each equipped with a list of who is shopping for whom.

There are four floors of individual stalls run by independent proprietors. From jewelry to furniture, trading cards to vintage toys, there is something for everyone.

We were in there for around three hours, but Emma was the first to finish and chose to go to the car to sit when she finished an hour in. Turns out, she couldn’t figure out why the van was cold the entire time, not realizing that the car had to be on for the heater to work so all she had was blowing cold air in her face. Now she knows.

I only found one thing which of course I can’t tell you about, but the ladies all had a good haul and found what they needed as we all sneakily transported our stash to the car.

I’ve still yet to find something for my parents, but I feel like today’s purchase checks Tara off of my list – minus some stocking stuffers.

You do have to be careful in stores like these though. Tara wound up buying something that turned out to be a lot more than she thought, given she was told it was ‘cheaper’ than the first item she picked up in that stall. Needless to say she was mighty shocked  when she went to check them out. Once again I cannot say anything, yet but It’s a hard lesson we both learned today.

One more week until Christmas Eve.
