Theory of Enchantment

I finally finished my Road Trip with Matthew McConaughey. Well, I say it’s complete but it’s really just a start. I will need to review my notes from time to time to check in on my progress of those goals I set and the things I wanted to change or do more of.

Although the course was expensive – no more than the writing course I took earlier in the year mind you – it was worth every penny spiritually. It made me think about the things I should be thinking about at 50, with hopes of making the most out of what time I have left on this earth, and finding more value, balance, joy, love, and most of all, more me. That also ties in with More Selfish, but when we take care of ourselves, we are more capable of serving others and giving them the we they deserve.

Before I finished Matthew’s program, I started Chloe Valdary’s Theory of Enchantment training. I’ve been wanting to dive into it for a while. I just happened to see on Linkedin that she was offering a discount so I jumped on board. I’ve been following her work for sometime, and find her to be an inspiring young change maker, so I’m glad to be able to see what all this talk of diversity through love is all about.

Through the Roadtrip, there are times we are asked to make lists, and we were told to go do one selfish thing for us, so I took an hour to start Chloe’s course and I am loving it so far. I do have to admit that I didn’t do the written part yet, but I’ll go back to that. Between blogging and Matthew’s course, I’ve done a lot of writing and introspection this past year so I just didn’t have it in me at that moment.

In Mile Marker 8 of Matthew’s program – More Love – we were asked to write a love poem to an inanimate object. An empty Blockbuster Sinistor Black Ale caught my attention, so that was the subject of choice.

Blockbuster Sinistor Black Ale

A sip of relief from sleepless parking lot nights,

and snowy heights.

A moment alone –

to breathe;

to relish flat terrain,

a mild night,

and warmer travels ahead.

The Happy Glamper against my back.

A lone red camping chair,

on a damp gravel site.

Cheers, oh Sinistor one,

to palm trees,

green grass,

the stars,

the ocean waves,

and the red desert beyond.
