It’s thirteen days to Christmas and I haven’t shopped a second. On a positive note, the train set and holiday village are all set up and the train is chugging smoothly around the tracks.
I got up the nerve to finally remove the wood stove from the garage. As anticipated, it’s very heavy but I have laid it in the alley just outside the door, with hopes that someone will take it. It’s usually a safe bet that whatever I leave there, will be gone in no time but I am not so confident about this bulky item. Otherwise, I’ll just have the kids help me get it into the van and I’ll go to the local dump where I can just push it out of the side door.
I spent some time cleaning that corner of the garage, and neatly moved a bunch of things into that spot. It already gives me more room to walk around that side of the garage. Now to get the rotted wood box out of there so I can slide a bunch of storage bins under that area.
While I was in the garage, someone called out and as it turns out, it’s the new owner of a war-time house down the street that had been empty the entire 17.5 years I have owned this house. He bought it fully renovated and it’s nice to finally see lights on within.
He’s a young gentleman with a business in Mississauga. He tried the commute and found it too much, so for now he is renting it out to a young family. Either way, it will be great to see some life at that end of the street. It was nice of him to stop, say hi, and introduce himself. Perhaps there is hope for the younger generation yet?
