Technically, it’s the girls night with their mom but this is the reason why building a healthy co-parenting relationship with your ex partner brings peace and understanding into your life.
It was agreed that the girls would come back to our house after school so we could have dinner and decorate the tree.
I’ve been doing very good at cooking every night and I haven’t even been going to a coffee shop daily either, so to make it so we could just relax over dinner made by someone else served on fine paper china, and get right to the tree, pizza and wings it was.
Hayleigh still wasn’t feeling great, but she pushed her way through adorning the tree with store bought and homemade decorations from their childhood’s alike. I had the lights and garland on the tree before dinner, so we could just get to the task at hand.
There was eggnog, Christmas music, curious animals, giggles, and Abby started a guessing game to name that Disney ornament in the box she was holding. Emma and I kicked but of course.
Hayleigh fought her way through, and we were able to get a photo of the three knuckle heads in front of the tree before Hayleigh trumbled up to bed, and I drove the girls back to their moms.
Three nights of beautiful memories. Now I just have to finish setting up this train set, but I’ll print off that image tomorrow and get to work on that.
The outside decorations are now done too so as they say, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – finally.
I’ve started to watch Elvis. I wasn’t a huge fan or anything but I do like some of his music. It was a rare movie my parents went to see at the theatre and they said it was great. I didn’t know that they focused on the story of his manager. I’m still early into the film. This is how I watch movies at 50.
