I had a few plans tonight with Tara away at our trailer, Hayleigh hanging out with a friend, and my girls with their mom. Problem was, I was tired and needed a nap first.
By the time I woke up, it was around 6 PM and I still needed to shower, get dressed, and feed the two kids in my care.
I texted my cousin who I was supposed to hangout with but by this time it was 8 PM and he likely passed out having not heard from me. He works hard, long days as a contractor so who could blame him?
The gathering I was planning to attend started at 6 PM which would have given me time to head over to my cousins at not too late an hour. The function was supposed to wrap up at 8 so I was starting to think that I was all dressed up with no place to go.
I had ordered Hayleigh and her friend McDonalds from an app, but then realized I had to go pick it up. When I got there, the problem with McDonald’s is that you have to say that you are there to pick it up and then they make it for you. The store was slammed. It was likely 15 minutes before the food was ready.
I went back home to drop off dinner for the kiddos, and then made my way over to our friends. It wasn’t far away but it was now after 8. When I walked into their backyard however, it was still full of people eating, enjoying a drink, and discussing community.
I ended up staying at our friends for a few hours, enjoying many conversations about various political and social issues with many different folks.
I’ve missed this.
