Hoping the Chatty Rubs Off

Emma decided to go to the Ancaster Fair after school with a friend, and the plan was to just stay at her mom’s tonight, so It was just Abby tonight. After I picked Abby up from school, I said we had to make a pit stop at the Camp Mart while we were on the mountain so I could bring back the hose I bought for the trailer propane hookup as the piece I had bought there a few days ago was too small.

The guys behind the service counter are great and very chatty which of course is right up my alley. They are helpful and knowledgeable. It turns out, I just needed an adapter for my cable, but then we got talking more about the issue with the awning. I came with some pictures of the existing setup and they talked me out of replacing the entire gutter and we agreed that the best solution might just be to install a steel plate just where the top bar needs to screw into. It would mean the awning was always on a bit of an angle, but it needs to be anyway when it rains so maybe it will work out okay.

Abby seemed to get a kick out of how much the staff liked to chat. They probably reminded them of her dear ol’ dad who she often has to drag away from a conversation. I hope she will one day look back fondly on these chatty moments. Ideally, she becomes a social butterfly too because in the end, making connections like this can make a 500K population city feel like a small town.

Having lived, worked, and played in this city all of my life, it’s rare that I don’t bump into someone I know.
