Although I still have a few things to finish up at the trailer before I bring my tools back, it was time to start tackling Emma’s room again. There isn’t really much to do but what is left, will help with organizing the remainder of the clutter – most of which is clothes but that might also require a winter vs. summer organizing system including ‘off-site’ storage. That’s the basement in layman’s terms.
I spent much of the day bringing clothes downstairs to wash. She has so many items of clothing and little space to store them now that her closet is smaller, and it will likely be a couple of days into the week before I finish her laundry. Yes, I do want her to do her own but I feel like if I can give her an organized start, it won’t be so overwhelming to keep up with it.
I will also be engaging Emma on this project this weekend as her birthday present will require a cleaned-off desk. We need a better system for her crafting supplies. If I’m ever to get this done, of course, I will need a team to push this reno over the finish line.
As I have written about throughout the year, these sorts of projects are often delayed because I don’t know where to start. The first step was finding the floor. Next, it’s tackling something I have never done before – building a daybed with drawers within the closet. I probably should have never tackled so much with this room project in the first place but here we are almost a year to when I started.
I guess the first step is in admitting you have a problem. I start things and squirrel into the next project.
It’s time for change.
