See A Guy About A Boat

Before practice, I headed out to look at a local boat. It was down to two that were fairly close to us. I wasn’t feeling hopeful about this one. You get a feeling, you know?

The property was astounding where the boat was. The gentleman was nice. His kids were playing sports in the background as I snooped around their boat. There were little holes where things had been removed, bolts in major places penetrating through. It hadn’t run in sometime. The only thing this boat had on the one we just parted with, was seating in the front, but mine took off like a bolt of lightning ready to use. I could have probably gotten the price down at least a thousand, but I would have spent months in my ‘spare’ time getting it water ready.

Next up, was a boat in Toronto. The one beyond our intended budget, but it was ready to drive out of their parking lot and into Lake Ontario. Tara agreed to head east after baseball, which meant we didn’t arrive until around 9:30 PM.

It was dark, but between the spotlight I brought and the driveway lights, we were able to get a good look. The boat, trailer, and motor were all in impeccable shape considering the boat itself was a 1988. Did I mention it was also a Cadorette? Seemed like fate.

I asked Tara if she wanted to think about it as we drove home, but she liked it too – as much as someone who doesn’t like boats can like a boat I guess, but it had a deeper hull more seating, and overall was very roomy inside considering it was the same length as our previous boat.

Deposit made. Thursday, we go back to take home our new-to-us boat.
