We headed out to Port Dover for the day where my in-laws live, as we had family down from Eastern Ontario. The plan was to have some of my father-in-law’s famous French Toast, followed by an early afternoon lunch.
We were welcomed with a table full of food. It was my third breakfast as I woke up hungry at 4 AM, had some cereal, finally fell back asleep, and then had some toast when I woke up to tie me over for the trip.
I had arranged to see a boat not far from Parry Sound in Boston, so my brother-in-law and I ventured through the countryside to have a look.
The older gentleman selling the boat and his son were super nice and knowledgeable about boats, but considering the craft was only 2.5 feet longer than ours, it was a beast of a boat. It also needed a ton of work to get her water ready so we had to take a pass on this first viewing.
I have been looking at boats for almost a year now so I knew what we wanted, but finding one in our price range was proving to be challenging.
On the way home we stopped at Hewitt’s Dairy. Whenever we would visit friends in Caledonia as a kid, we would often take family trips down the highway a bit for ice cream. It’s one of my favorite summer stops.
Although I was disappointed that that wasn’t the boat for us, there are a couple I am hoping to go see this week that will do the job. One is within our price range, and the other is a bit more than we want to spend. Most important, however, is to find one that will meet our needs for years to come.
