With the celebrations over, the focus now is the fact that we fly out of here in 9 days for our 14 day west coast USA adventure, and there is a heck of a lot of prep, packing, and cleaning yet to do.
Also of note, is that my online writing course is at the halfway point, and I have fallen behind. This has me stressed out because the class was not cheap, and I’d really like to complete these last couple of courses to finally get my writing certificate after all of these years.
I am learning a ton in this course, from how to write a strong query letter, to a listicle.
“Stop saying that word, dad.”
A listicle (Listicle. Listicle. Listicle), is an article based on a list of say Top Ten Things to Do in Bend, Oregon. In fact, my first assignment is a query letter and an article inspired by this format, minus the numbered headings.
I have written the query letter, and have over 700 words blurted out in a mix of paragraph and point form notes so I should have this finally done within the next couple of days, with the hopes of at least going through the second module lectures before I leave for vacation.
It will be quite the crunch when I return to get all the materials submitted by midnight on April 18th. Much of my daily scribes will likely be me brainstorming my way through this intense course.
What better inspiration can you ask for as a writer, than a 14-day family RV vacation.
I’m going to submit my query letter and article to the editor of a Bend newspaper as well.
I am resurrecting our old family blog for this trip, but I will duplicate those posts here.
