I spent a great deal of time with Julie yesterday. I realized I hadn’t checked in on her Julie/Julie Project in some time so I started going through some blog posts. For some reason, I started flipping through the calendar to get some glimpses of future posts when all of a sudden I realized that there was a break in the links. At the end of November, there was no way to click on December. Was I going to get this far and there be no more J&J cooking master-e?
That might be my first dad joke on this blog? Impressive.
What started out as reading a couple of blog posts, turned into a few hours of digging deep into the ether of the interwebs. From a Facebook post by Julie highlighting to fans where they can find her blog archives, a random email thread between someone from Florida State and local to me, the University of Waterloo, Julie/Julia Dudes and Dudettes Yahoo group, to a Julie Powell website that linked to the first post of each month of her 365-project except the last two, every time I felt like I had solved the mystery, I was met with one more snag. That is until I found Hank Grabowski.
Hank had seen Julie & Julia on his first date with his now wife so the movie has always had a special place in his heart. He also loves Julia Child, food and cooking.
Like myself, Hank had noticed that the links to Julie’s archived site on the Wayback Machine were broken so he actually wrote a script to fix the broken links so you and I can easily browse through the table he made listing every post of The Julie/Julia project.
Thanks, Hank!
