The Grapes of Jordan Peterson

Jordan Peterson is back on Twitter.

I like Jordan. He’s a brilliant mind and I enjoy his guests and the profound discussions they dive into. I am also in the midst of 12 Rules for Life and I have to say I like his writing too.

My favourite book that I read this past year was Don’t Label Me by author Irshad Manji. One thing that continues to echo loud long after I read her book, was that there can be aspects of organizations or even our spouses, that we feel a deep connection to, but that doesn’t have to mean we are all in.

I am not all in with my wife. We have wonderful debates about things we don’t see eye to eye on and in the end, there is no hate or anamosity. Only pure respect for the open and raw conversations our relationship welcomes and the diversity of opinions we hold as it relates to family, political, and social matters.

Although I always get where Jordan is coming from with any issue he debates, it doesn’t mean I agree with his standpoints or the battles he choses. I also don’t love his Daily Wire persona but perhaps as a Canadian, I’m just too fvcking cordial to a fault?

Hence the ‘fvck’ in the ‘what the’ coming out.

In the end, I see Jordan as a critical voice in a world where the pendulum of politics and social discourse is swinging out of control. Kind of like Don Cherry on Coaches Corner. There is only so much political correctness one can take before the audience has no interest in an echo chamber of opinions. We need Yin and Yang in our hockey commentary and in a broader social discourse.

Grapes and Peterson. Two birds. One puck.

Goal!!
