If you’re a veteran within the Twitter writing community, perhaps the #5amwritersclub is nothing new to you. Today, I gave it a whirl.
Although the intent was there to try it, I had some help from a 49-year old bladder and my wife’s alarm screaming ‘When I, was younger, my father took me to the city….’. Every morning.
It was closer to 5:30 but hey, there is a 5 in there and regardless, I have had a few sips of tea, some cereal, shared some milk with the cats, and now I’m enjoying a bit of quiet before I wake the kiddos up.
What I love about this blog is that I have already started to relax and find that funny side that got me into all kinds of trouble as a kid. In my early posts, you see a snarly, middle-aged man whining about not making it as a writer. With every post though, the ‘what the fvck’ is truly coming out and I am able to have more fun with this. Hell, I laugh my ace off every time I share my latest post with ‘Today on What the Fvck’. There, I did it again.
Although I am typically not a morning person, on the rare occasions that I find myself unable to sleep, I reflect on how much I enjoy this time of day. Thankfully, I’ve always fallen asleep hard and fast.
My dad put in 37 years working shifts at the local steel company. He is up with their cat every day at 3:30 AM. He’s doing laundry, sweeping floors, catching up on sports matches that occurred after his 7 PM bedtime.
I am grateful for the many conversations and new followers this morning. 5 AM really is the place to be. Fvck.
