Squishy Potatoes and Agent Argylle
“I want to make a ray of sunshine in a dark world. And that was the whole aim of this movie. It was to be entertaining, fun, and escapism for two hours.” ~ Argylle Director, Matthew Vaughn

Look Who’s Talking Poo
A killer migraine, waking up to see a live shot of my colon, a juicy burger, a long nap, and waking ready to conquer the world – or at least to go see Argylle at the theatre. If you’ve seen the intro to Look Whose Talking, you’ll understand today’s correlation.

Larry’s Room ONLY
While the kids enjoyed a PA day, I had a date with liquid paste, and the downstairs bathroom was claimed. There would be one last meal bright and early, and then it was an all you can swallow buffet of Jello and chicken broth.

The Column Of Truth
I dig deep -expanding on a piece I wrote last year called ‘I Am But One Shade’ – as I look to define hard truth, versus common understanding. God. The shape of our planet. What is unequivocal and what is personal truth?

COVID Sucks. Have a Coffee
Since I’m on a role, I picture myself back on my bicycle, riding through our community in search of community connections whether that of my parents and grandparents, or raising my kids in these streets the past 17.5 years.

A Winter Scene
The gentle flakes. A siamese cat trotting through the snow. Curious dogs with noses pressed up against the window. The house across the street, a Hallmark backdrop within an idyllic winter scene.

Taxpayer Lunches
It seems every term of council, the argument resurfaces as to whether or not the taxpayer should be fitting the bill for catered lunches for our elected representatives. My opinion is that they aren’t just meals. They are an olive branch of human connection.

Bathroom Etiquette
Potty training was obviously not an early focus with this pup. Thankfully she makes up in cuteness what she lacks in manners. If I step in one more wet spot, or catch the wafting smell of dung one more time … well, I guess I’ll clean it up.

My Purpose Within This Craft?
My wife bought me the sequel to A Christmas Story – A Christmas Story Christmas – for well, Christmas. I finally had a chance to watch it., and I was not disappointed after a year of anticipation.

Defining Love and Hate
I have Friday’s off for the rest of the year, so it was a mixture of rest, and adventure at the dog park with Finnegan, and we brought an old friend with us. It was great to see Quinn. She had lot’s of hugs to share on the way back home.

An Artist Date
The assignment: Go outside. Into nature. 30-minutes was all that was required of you, but the point was to liven your senses in search of more joy. A train. A starry night. A yard full of yellow string lights. It was all familiar, but I was more alive to it.

My Year in Pictures
To close out this project, I have crafted a collage consisting of every photo from all 369 blog entries that I published over this 365-day writing journey. If nothing else comes of these 140K+ words, this poster will always remain a cherished reflection of my biggest creative endeavor through my first 50.

Best Fishes
This is it. The last post. What is there left to say? What sort of wisdom do I want to leave as I cross the 140,000 words threshold on day 365? All I could think about was day one when I was wondering what this project was going to be all about. My answer? Who…

Last Couch Cuddles
Abby called. Her spirt broken. The news about Quinn was of the worst kind. Cancer. At any moment, she could break a limb. It was time to plan goodbye. She isn’t my dog, but the year of memories we made together has me gutted at the thought of never cuddling on the couch together again.

Troubling News
I got a call today that Quinn either has a bone infection, or cancer. Their mom asked if I would take her for one last romp around the dog park just in case, so Emma and I did just that. You’d never guess the way she romped around, that her leg even bothered her.
